comment The poppodums were crispy enough but I did not care for the spiced onions and lime pickle that I thought were quite uninteresting!

However the starter of fish tikki (spicy fish cakes) were really quite nice! Also very good I thought was the main course of rana's chicken punjabi style! It was hot and spicy and I enjoyed it very much!

I also enjoyed the side dish of bhindi saag, which I'd not seen before. It was a very green dish and also very tasty however was disappointed with the tarka dahl and sag aloo I'm afraid!

I thought it was going to be quite a shambolic evening though! Yes they took our drinks order as soon as we arrived but we still hadn't seen a menu even after finishing our poppodums! Ended up having to ask for them - which is always a poor show - but then I really enjoyed my starter and main course and overall I thought it was a pretty good curry!

comment Chicken pakora starter very nice - goodly sized portion too. Multiple sauce selection a nice touch.

Main very good indeed. Lots of chicken, chunks of onion and green pepper and no coriander :-) Could have been a bit spicier though. The tarka dahl was good with the onions on top, but could have done with a touch more garlic. Garlic naan very tasty.

Intersting decor (tiger stripe carpet with red and purple tiles on the floor) and definitely not your usual background music but the service and atmosphere were good nonetheless!

comment Spicy aubergine starter - fab.

Lamb tikka karahi very nice, but could have been a lot warmer and had a lot more meat in it.

Saag bhindi - very tasty.

Very nice atmosphere despite being a very quiet week night.

comment Rana's special starter (mixed kebab) was excellent - really couldn't fault it. Meat tender and nicely marinated. Even the rabbit food had some crunch. Nice touch with the 4 different sauces served with the starters too.

The lamb Punjabi style was tasty enough, but only had 6 or 7 small chunks of lamb. I was also expecting a bit of spice as was hinted at in the description, but it never came. Garlic naans were tasty too.

Tarka dahl was interesting - as well as the normal garlic and lentils, there were onions and tomatos. Nice flavour, but could have done with more garlic. The saag bhindi was very nice.

Service was prompt and efficient, but the staff need a lesson in smiling.

Not sure why they had country and western music on, but it didn't deter from a nice atmosphere.

comment Starters were vegetable Samosa Channa. just one samosa surrounded by some Chick Peas in a spicy sauce and some chopped salad. However, very tasty and I didn't want a large starter.
Chose North Indian Chilli Lamb for Main course. The sauce with this dish was very nice, but not the "Very Hot!!!" suggested on the menu. I suspect they were short on Lamb in the kitchen as the meat portion was less than adequate.
The Dhall side dish and the Saag Bhindi (unusual combination) were excellent and made up for the lack of vegetable matter in the Main.
My overall impression was adequate, but could do better.
I suspect i'll have to try again sometime to come to a final decision.

comment I thought I'd try the "Chicken Tikki" starter, which was apparently different from the Chicken Tikka. I can't reccomend the Tikki - a fried chicken burger type thing. Everyone elses starter looked better.

For my main I went with a ckicken dish with the "extra green chillies" option. It didn't have any chillies at all and came with a very tomato-y sauce, which wasn't what I was in the mood for. I couldn't be bothered sending it back.

All in it seemed like a nice restuarant but I chose poorly with the starter and the main wan't really what I ordered.
