comment Pre-Starter: There was a good selection of dips to go with the poppadoms but for the people who like lime pickle there wasnt enough of it. Not enough onions either. The poppadoms themselves were quite puffy rather than crispy - tasted nice just not crispy enough

Starter: I had the chilli garlic mushrooms. They were very nice but just not what I was expecting - creamy garlic mushrooms with a kick through it.

Main: I had chicken madras which was tasty but it was very hot for a medium/hot spiced curry.

Sides: We got some Tarka Dal after asking if they would do it for us as it was not specifically on the menu and that went down well at our table. The naans were nice enough but not garlicy enough for me.

comment Pre-Start: Good dips but not enough pickle for everyone. Pompadoms as crisp as some.
Shammi Kebab starter: Quite tasty, as a starter.
1947 Kebab: Very tasty, recommend this, and the chili garlic lamb special was interesting; recomend that too.
Sides: Usual (for us)Tarka Dal disapeared quickly, so must have been good. Naans; well,fine... will try the pechwari next time.
Service: Managed ok considering the pary size, a bit pushed for only two serving.
Value: Bit steep, ..but..drink less....eat more.

comment Tried some different dishes - Clam Koshimbir and Bream Nicole. Both had good subtle flavours. Slightly piceier than some of the other dishes but I think it was the beer bill that pushed up the total.

comment Pops were crispy enough, but looked and tasted as if they'd been lying around for a while. Chutneys were average. I didn't get much of a taste of the lime pickle as it had been finished by the time the tray came to me, so obviously not enough of them to go around.

Tandouri smoked mackrel tasted nice enough. Pretty sure it wasn't cooked in a tandour though - it was basically a bit of smoked mackrel with a reasonably tasty curry paste spread on it.

Lamb phal was okay - not overly keen on the taste of the chilies used to make the sauce though. However, they crought out a "special" for us to try: chili garlic lamb which was outstanding. Obviously not as hot as the phal, but so much more full of flavour - wish I'd ordered it!

We were split into two tables since there were 17 of us, so thumbs up to them for doing that - it meant that everyone got nice hot food.

comment Shared mixed starter platter and Chicken puri for starters quite nice. Had King prawn tikka for mains, very nice.

Another CTCT had the Phaal which I tried and it was suitably spicy.

Excellent acoustics in the bathroom, all in all a good night.

comment Poppadoms were Ok, but a bit short on dips.
Shammi Kebab starter fairly bland, disappointing.
I had mixed feelings about my Chicken JalFrezie Main course. As curries go, it had quite a nice flavour, but there was no sign of any green chillis which are normally the hallmark of this dish. Definitely lacked a little in spiciness.
The additional Chilli Garlic Lamb dish provided as a taster was very nice. Made me wish I'd oredered it instead of the JalFrezie.
Dhal side produced off-menu was very pleasnt, but not enough garlic for me.
The service was efficient and because they (sensibly) split us into two tables, all the food arrived hot.
I think I'll probably have to give it another try in a smaller group.
